FORMER AND PRESENT

From the old days affection and honour formed the basis of student-teacher relationship. Teachers are trying their level best to bridge the old values with the new thoughts of present day with a view to build up their students as a ‘Total Woman’. The members of the department, apart from academic accomplishments, also participate in charity and social services. In order to help the blind people, they have co-operated with Blind Person’s Association (Regd No. S/20088 ) and collected Rs 4526.50/- under the guidance of their Professors this year.
To improve the academic foundation of the students, the department arranges for a meeting every year, with the parents of the students. The department has a magazine, named ‘Shreya’ and a wall magazine, named ‘Saroswat‘. Bengali department has a well-maintained departmental library with more or less 625 books and some literary journals. Students can use these books and journals according to their needs.
Students are encouraged to participate in the multifarious activities offered by the different clubs and cells of the institution. The students of the Bengali Department have a general reputation of being involved in social work through the Women’s Christian College unit of the NSS. Given the freedom to showcase their talents, they spontaneously participate in cultural programmes, in the activities of the Eco Club, the Debate Club, the Women’s Study Cell and likewise.
Finally parent-teacher meetings held on a regular basis ensure uninterrupted communication and a cordial relation between the Department and its principal stakeholders ie its students and parents.
