National Service Scheme (NSS)

Introduced in the college in 2009, the NSS Unit is very active, carrying out both the Regular and Special Camp activities with zeal. It won 2 awards from the University of Calcutta in 2012 in the 'Best College' and 'Best Programme Officer' categories. A student volunteer, Manabi Mukherjee from our Unit was selected to represent the University of Calcutta at the National Adventure Camp, Narkanda, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports in 2022. Another volunteer from our NSS Unit, Madhumita Baidya was selected to attend the 26th National Youth Festival in Hubli, Karnataka in 2023. The Principal Dr Ajanta Paul is presently on the NSS Advisory Committee of the University of Calcutta. 

 

Women's Study Cell

Since 2006 the Women's Study Cell has been spearheading activities focused on restoring gender imbalances. Working with NGOs and other social work agencies it organizes many programmes on gender sensitization, women's rights and other challenges. It received an international award from the United Board of Christian Higher Education in Asia in 2014 for its exemplary work.

 

Eco Club

The Eco Club is a vibrant hub which initiates programmes on environmental awareness, global warming, bio diversity and other crucial discourses to educate the students about the need to preserve our planet. It oversees the Rainwater Harvesting System and Solar PV Panels in the college, besides undertaking various other eco-friendly initiatives in the institution and its neighbourhood.

 

Cine Club

The Cine Club organizes screenings of seminal films, and interactive talks on the cultural and aesthetic aspects of cinematic production to make students aware of the influence of this mass medium, and its socio-cultural and artistic reach.
