Sonali Chakraborty Foundation & College Civil Service Study Center

SONALI CHAKRABORTY FOUNDATION (SCF)

The SCF-WCC Civil Service Study Centre was started in November 2019, in memory of an alumna, Sonali Chakraborty, by a foundation instituted by her family. The centre offers comprehensive training to students interested in pursuing a career in the civil services as well as other competitive examinations. The training is free of charge.

Three batches of aspirants have been given training so far. Before the pandemic, weekly physical classes would be taken after college hours, and dedicated resource persons would take the aspirants through the special topics required for the preliminary examination in accordance with the WBCS syllabus. Since the pandemic the centre has used online as well as offline modes of training, covering 3-4 hours a week. Frequent tests and the occasional look at topics/subjects required for the main examinations help the aspirants to prepare themselves.

This initiative, one of the first in the state, is for students in their final semesters, though since last year alumnae have also been encouraged to join the training and testing sessions. Offline classes are usually held on Saturdays, after normal classes give over.
