About

The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication was introduced in 2017 observing the growing interest and passion for Journalism among students. It was introduced as a Three year Undergraduate General Degree Course.

Beside regular academic curriculum, students are encouraged to participate in seminars, workshops, writing and photography competition and other co- curricular activities organised by the department of this college as well as other colleges.

By writing in the Departmental Lab Journal “COLLAGE” and conducting interviews of renowned personalities, students get exposure and enrich their passion of becoming a media person.

DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES

  • The Department has Organised a one day departmental workshop on “Media Reporting and Editing” conducted by Dr. Pallav Mukhopadhyay, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, West Bengal State University at College Auditorium on 20th January, 2018.
  • The Department has Organised a one day national seminar on “From Print to Digital Media: Revolution and Opportunity” in collaboration with “Parbo Kagaj” (a referred journal of communication and social science) on 27 January, 2018 at College Auditorium.
  • Students were taken to conduct interviews of Prof. Ashoke Viswanathan(National Award Winner Film Director and Dean of SRFTI) and Sri Subrata Chakraborty(Station Manager of Kalighat and Rabindra Sarobar Metro Station) for the maiden issue of Departmental Lab Journal “COLLAGE”.
